The Big (Blog Hop) Reveal

It’s time for the 8th Bead Soup Blog Party Reveal! Here is what I made from the beads my parter Marta Grabalowska sent me. Her blogs are and

My bead soup was not my typical color palate and I consider that a good thing! I realized that I had some pink seed beads in my stash that I thought I would never use. They were almost identical to the ones  in the soup. I mixed them with  beige and tan beads of a similar value  and threw in some turquoise  beads to make a bead crochet pattern. I used the remaining beads as embellishment.

The copper clasp holds the rope closed. I beaded around the focal cameo and went for an asymmetrical look. I am very happy with the result. Thank you Marta!!!

Here are some more pictures.

Thank you Lori Anderson for making another great beading experience possible!! You can find a list of all the participants on Lori’s blog.

  1. Wow, Martha, this looks so dramatic and must have such great movement when worn. Three cheers for new colour combos!

  2. Lovely! I am extremely impressed with your bead crochet–looking at your necklace makes me really want to learn how to do it! The colors are also not ones that I would normally put together, but you make them beautiful! Wonderful, wonderful work! πŸ™‚

  3. Gasp! Look at that beautiful beadwork! I have never tried bead crochet but am inspired to try after seeing your beautiful rope. It is such a lush piece full of movement and life and what a clever use of the clasp to hold it all together. Awesome necklace!

  4. There are basically all my favorite elements here; the beaded rope, its gorgeous color combo, the dangles in the end and the lariat look. Amazing, I am drooling!

  5. Martha – thanks for coming by my blog. I must say, I don’t do bead crochet but I admire what can be done with it – and what you have done with your soup is lovely. I can just imagine the compliments when you wear it. Rose

    • Thanks. you string 4 light beads, 1 dark and the crochet the rope 6 around. This gives you the spiral. There are lots of examples of bead crochet rope patterns on Pinterest. This is one of the simplest ones.

    • Thanks! If you want to learn bead crochet, take a look at this excellent video and remember that the rope will not begin
to take shape until you have completed at least seven rows. Better yet, have someone show you and let you try crocheting off of a rope that’s already been started so you can get the feel of it.

  6. Wow! Beautiful done. I admire you for your great seedbeading skills. I’m too stupid for bead crochet but I will try it once more. Thank you for the video. πŸ™‚

  7. Hi Martha, Your necklace is beautiful. You did a great job of picking colors to go with your soup beads. I make lots of ropes but, I have not crocheted one yet. It is something I really want to learn.
